5 times a Buoyancy Aid was really useful
Wearing a buoyancy aid is a no brainer, whether you're a natural born swimmer or you sink like a stone.
But in situations like these, you'll definitely be glad you had one on!
The Whale's Jaws!
No one wants to be swallowed by a Whale. That's a fact.
When this couple were dumped into the water by a Humpback Whale off the coast of California, I'll bet they were glad they had a buoyancy aid on to help them swim away pretty quickly!
Disclaimer: We can not guarantee that a buoyancy aid will help you swim fast enough to escape a Whale.
No Escape!
If you've been stuck in a hydraulic before you'll understand all too well how much of a difference a buoyancy aid makes.
If you haven't... just take our word for it, you won't regret having put one on that morning!?
Staying on the surface means that your buddies on the river bank can get a rescue line to you more easily. Plus you can breathe a load easier than being stuck on the bottom.

That's a big drop!
And that's a lot of white water bubbling and churning at the bottom. You'll want to float pretty sharpish once you get down there. You may even find you're no longer in a kayak once you resurface!
