With so many different types of buoyancy aids on the market, it can be confusing to choose the right one for you.

To help you out we’ve put together a few top picks that are available right now.

This is just a guide to show you a variety of buoyancy aids on the market, and what they are most suited to.
Generally speaking buoyancy aids can easily cross over for use in different types of water sports too.

All Rounders

Yak Blaze

This buoyancy aid is great for the beginners that are still finding their feet on the water. It is a great all-round buoyancy aid, keeping it simple in the design but still allowing full mobility for paddling. The yak blaze is lightweight, with adjustable shoulders and a waist belt to ensure you feel secure.

Yak Xipe

In similar style to the yak blaze, this BA is cut specifically to promise full arm movement when paddling, avoiding restriction, and therefore giving you a comfortable adventure on the water. It has a built-in hydration pack pocket for practicality but is kept simple and uncomplicated in design.

Crewsaver MK3

The MK3 is the pefrect buoyancy aid for your first adventure out on the water. It is low profile with torso and shoulder adjustments which provides plenty of freedom and little concern. The bright colour options also make sure you are fully visible at all times so you are easy to spot if needs be.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Palm FX

Low profile BA’s are best when it comes to being on a SUP as they allow for full range of movement as well as allowing you to climb back on to your board with ease. The Palm FX features a big front pocket, equipped with clips and internal mesh pockets, allowing you to store your essentials. This comfortable BA gives you all the freedom you need when paddleboarding.

Palm Glide

This may not look like a BA but it’s a great bit of kit to provide that extra bit of comfort and security when you don’t feel the need to wear a full PFD. With the pull of a cord, the belt provides instant flotation from the 100N inflatable flotation bladder stored inside. It is perfect for allowing you to SUP with full freedom and without the bulk of a bigger BA. We recommend you carry a spare Palm Glide Re-arm kit to re-arm your inflatable Glide after use.

Palm Meander

The Palm Meander is another great entry level BA, low profile and perfect for not being too bulky out on your SUP whilst still providing the right support. There are plenty of adjustments so that it sits comfortably for all day wear and there are reflective details on the torso so that you can be seen if needed.

Kayaking

NRS Ninja PFD

This is another low profile jacket, designed for you to have full range of movement when wearing it, allowing you to take part in the different paddle sports. With the Ninja being so compact, you are able to enjoy your activity without feeling the burden of a bulkier PFD around your torso, letting you perform at your best ability.

Palm Meander High Back

Evolving from the Palm Meander buoyancy aid, the meander high back is ideal for sit on top kayaks and kayaks with high back rests as there is cut away back panel that is positioned high for a more comfortable paddling position. This BA has a simple zip entry with a secure waist buckle to ensure you feel safe and secure whilst the slim design doesn’t overcrowd the kayak.

Yak High Back 60N

Through river calm or choppy seas, the High Back 60N is the ultimate BA for your next touring adventure. This BA also has a raised back profile meaning you can be comfortable, no matter what type of boat you are in. There is also breathable air mesh flow technology helping you to stay cool even on the warmest days.
