What is Paddle Boarding?

What is Paddle Boarding?

Take yourself to most waterways today, and you will be sure to see someone standing on a long board holding a paddle.
For those who aren't familiar, its called Stand Up Paddleboarding or more commonly known as SUP.It's earliest roots trace it back to the 18th century when native Hawaiians paddled along the Pacific from island to island.

The modern application of sup became more popular in the surf culture in the 1960's.

In 2005 the combination of canoeing and surfing became increasingly popular around the world and today is enjoyed by millions of people surfing, exploring, fishing and yoga.

Not only is Sup a fun and easy way to get on the water for all ages, shapes and sizes but has an incredible health benefit mentally and physically.

It's proven that fresh air and exercise releases endorphins that make us happy but the physical benefits are also huge.

Without too much effort, by simply standing on a board paddling along you use muscles in your entire body. The workout achieved from even a short time on a sup can exceed something you would gain from an hour in a gym leaving you happy without being exhausted, improving your balance and stability.

One of the main reasons for such growing popularity is the cost. Getting fully set up to get on the water is minimal compared to other sports. The only thing you really need to get going in a board and a paddle, however depending on the environment you are planing to use it and the conditions we recommend you wear a PFD and adjust your kit accordingly to deal with cold water and poor weather.
